Marc Weller Named to The Daily Record’s Power 100 List

Triple Bottom-line Developer Recognized for Transformational Impact on Maryland’s Future

Weller Development Partners (WDP) is proud to announce that President and Founding Partner Marc Weller has been named to The Daily Record’s Power 100 List. The list recognizes 100 influential business leaders and power players who are shaping the future of Maryland.

Weller was recognized for the incredible social and economic impact he and his team have made in Maryland and in the region through their transformational developments. World-renowned projects in the Weller Development Partners’ portfolio in Maryland include the Sagamore Pendry hotel, the Sagamore Spirit Distillery, the City Garage Innovation Center, UA House recreation center, The Crossvines restaurant and winery, and Baltimore Peninsula, formerly known as Port Covington, one of the largest urban revitalization projects in the United States. Additional projects in the Weller Pipeline include the Reston National Golf Course in Northern Virginia and recently announced luxury resorts in Napa Valley and The Bahamas, in partnership with world-renowned hospitality brand Six Senses Hotels Resorts & Spas.

“My biggest success is unequivocally the team I have assembled and the people I have been fortunate enough to work with over the course of my career,” said Marc Weller. “This award is not mine — it’s for our team.  Every day I feel honored and humbled to be able to work closely with this group of unbelievable professionals. What I am most proud of is how we have exceeded expectations on every single one of our community commitments. We came to Baltimore, and we did exactly what we said we were going to do.  We kept our word to the community every step of the way, and we did all this while building a world-class project under budget and ahead of schedule – all during a global pandemic.”

Weller and his team are renowned for their holistic triple bottom-line approach to development, designing strategies that are financially viable, while also providing benefits to surrounding communities and the environment. Weller recently relocated the firm’s offices to Bethesda, MD as part of the team’s growth and expansion plan to bring their unique development approach to new markets. The developer’s current portfolio is growing regionally, nationally, and internationally, including Six Senses Aetna Springs in Napa Valley California, Six Senses Grand Bahama in The Bahamas, Reston National Golf Course in Northern Virginia, and additional projects to be announced in California, New York, and the Caribbean.

Weller Development Partners is completing the first phase of development at the Baltimore Peninsula with over 1.1 million square feet of new office, retail, and mixed-income residential opening in 2023. The mega project also recently announced two major tenants — CFG Bank and H. Chambers Company — signed significant leases to relocate to the neighborhood this year. Marc Weller sees his team’s success in Maryland as a prelude to their future projects around the region, the country, and internationally.
